Pseudonymous
by Design.

Effective Date: January 1, 2025  ·  Last Updated: June 1, 2025

The Short Version

Qontra requires an account (email/password or Google Sign-In) to participate in debates. Your account email is used only for authentication — it is never visible to other users, never shown in debates, and never tied to your public identity.

In all public debate contexts, you appear exclusively under a randomly generated topic handle. No real name. No photo. No profile. Your argument stands alone.

1. Information We Collect

Qontra collects the minimum information necessary to operate a secure, pseudonymous debate platform. Here is what we collect and why:

Email address Collected when you register with email/password. Used only for account authentication and account recovery. Never displayed to other users.
Firebase UID A unique, opaque identifier assigned by Firebase Auth when your account is created. Used internally to link your account to your topic handles and debate history.
Google account info If you sign in via Google, Firebase Auth receives your Google email and basic profile token. No profile photo or real name is stored in Qontra's systems.
Topic handles Random 8-character alphanumeric codes generated per debate topic. Stored and linked to your Firebase UID internally. Never connected to your email in any public-facing context.
Debate content Arguments, rebuttals, and votes you submit in debate sessions. Associated with your topic handle, not your account email.
App preferences Display settings and UI configuration stored locally on your device via Android DataStore.

We do not collect real names, profile photos, phone numbers, date of birth, location data, or any demographic information.

2. Firebase Authentication

Qontra uses Firebase Authentication (a Google service) to manage user accounts. When you create an account or sign in, your credentials are processed and stored by Firebase on Google-operated servers.

Firebase Auth stores the following on your behalf:

Firebase Authentication is governed by Google's Firebase Privacy Policy in addition to this policy. DGZ Games does not have access to your raw password at any time.

3. Google Sign-In

As an alternative to email/password, you may sign in using your Google account via Google Sign-In. When you do:

Your use of Google Sign-In is also subject to Google's Privacy Policy.

4. Topic Handles (Your Public Identity)

Your email address and Firebase UID are never shown to other users. All public-facing participation in Qontra — arguments, rebuttals, votes — appears under your topic handle.

This system ensures that even if debate content is observed by others, it cannot be linked to your identity or to your other debates.

5. Debate Content and Storage

The arguments, rebuttals, and votes you submit in debates are associated with your topic handle, not your account identity. Debate content is used to:

Debate content is stored in Firebase Firestore (Google's cloud database) and processed on Google-operated servers. This data is subject to Google's Firebase data processing terms.

DGZ Games does not sell debate content or use it to build advertising profiles. Debate content may be reviewed by DGZ Games if reported for a Terms of Service violation.

6. Analytics and Crash Reporting

To maintain and improve app quality, Qontra may use anonymized crash reporting and aggregate analytics. If used:

You may opt out of analytics in the app's Settings → Privacy menu.

7. Third-Party Services

Qontra integrates the following third-party services. Each operates under its own privacy policy:

Firebase Auth Account creation and sign-in. Stores email, hashed password, and Firebase UID on Google servers. Firebase Privacy Policy →
Firebase Firestore Cloud storage for debate content (linked to topic handles, not emails). Firebase Privacy Policy →
Google Sign-In Optional alternative authentication method. Subject to Google's Terms and Privacy Policy. Google Privacy Policy →
Google Play Services Required Android platform dependency. Google Privacy Policy →

We do not integrate advertising SDKs, social media tracking, or any service that creates cross-app advertising profiles. We do not sell data to third parties.

8. Children's Privacy

Qontra is not directed at children under the age of 15. Because the App requires an account with an email address, and account creation involves Firebase Auth, we do not knowingly permit children under 15 to register.

If you believe a child under 15 has created an account, please contact us at privacy@dgzgames.com and we will delete the account promptly.

Users between 15 and 18 should review this policy with a parent or guardian.

9. Your Rights and Data Control

You have the following rights over your data:

Residents of the EU (GDPR) and California (CCPA) may have additional rights. Contact us at the address below to exercise them.
